It would be accurate to say that Mr. Joseph Niles became a legend in his lifetime.
Mr. Niles is a veteran of over twenty-three recorded gospel albums and over three hundred (300) recorded gospel songs. He almost single-handedly pioneered the use of indigenous rhythms in local Barbadian Gospel Music. His influence transcends denominational and age barriers and the impact of his music and ministry has been felt across the region, North America, Europe and Canada. Having ministered for over four decades he experienced a resurgence in support especially among the younger audiences in the latter stages of his singing career.
His concert “Joseph Niles In Concert- An evening to remember” on Saturday April 01, 2000 marking his 60th Birthday was the first by a local Barbadian Christian artiste to sell out the 5500 seat Garfield Sobers Gymnasium. Joseph Niles was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame in Detroit Michigan in 2004.
